Delhi Rain: Residents across several parts of Delhi experienced welcome relief from humid and sultry weather on Sunday after moderate rainfall swept through the city and nearby NCR regions. According to official weather data, Chhatarpur recorded the highest rainfall among monitored locations till the afternoon.
The showers helped ease discomfort caused by high humidity, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicated that cloudy conditions and additional rainfall are likely to continue during the day.
Chhatarpur records highest rainfall in Delhi
Official rainfall data released till 2:30 PM showed that Chhatarpur received 49 mm of rainfall, making it the wettest location in Delhi during the period.
Other recorded rainfall figures included:
- Chhatarpur – 49 mm
- Gurugram – 35 mm
- Mehrauli – 18 mm
- Greater Noida – 17 mm
- Najafgarh – 8 mm
- Janakpuri – 7 mm
The rainfall brought noticeable relief from the sticky weather that had persisted over the past few days.
IMD forecasts more rain and cloudy skies
The IMD said Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 29.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.3 degrees above the seasonal average.
The weather department has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rainfall, while the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 36 degrees Celsius.
Humidity remained high in the morning, with the relative humidity recorded at 77% at 8:30 AM.
Delhi air quality remains in moderate category
Despite the rainfall, Delhi’s air quality continued to remain in the ‘Moderate’ category.
According to the Sameer app, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 162 at 3:33 PM. As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between 101 and 200 falls under the moderate category.
